Purple Heart City

VFW 1435 members John Beyer, Tom Pauley, and Jim Devaney

The Liberty Lake City Council on June 20, 2023, unanimously approved a proclamation declaring "Purple Heart City" status for Liberty Lake.  This recognition is in honor of the area's Purple Heart recipients from the nation's military service.

The designation also made the city eligible to obtain Purple Heart City signs with the assistance of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (locally, VFW Post 1435, serving Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake), the Liberty Lake Kiwanis, and private donations.  The signs are placed near the intersection of Country Vista and Broadway, the intersection of Mission and Winrock, and off the bridge at Harvard.
