Liberty Lake offers community garden sites at both Rocky Hill Park (24901 E. Mission Ave.) and the Nature's Place at Meadowwood Arboretum (on the pathway just east of the City Hall site). These garden plots are available to rent starting the first working day of each new year. Interior dimensions of each plot are 7' 8" long x 3' 4" wide x 2' deep. Reservations for plots are only available to residents who live within the city limits of Liberty Lake.
RESERVATIONS FOR 2026 OPEN ON FRIDAY, JAN. 2, AT 8:00 A.M. (Scroll below for the reservation link.)
Plot Reservations
Applications open on the first working day of the year and are available on a first come/first served basis.
Residents may come to City Hall at that time to fill out an application and select their plot.
Plots are limited to ONE per address/household.
The fee is $25 for the season (approximately April 1 through Nov. 1).
Fees are non-refundable, whether an applicant decides to forfeit a plot or through lack of use.
Plots do not roll over from the previous year's usage. Previous applicants are not guaranteed a plot site, nor is there a guarantee of being able to have the same plot they had previously.
Applicants who cannot make it to City Hall during working hours may phone in a request and receive an application by e-mail and pay over the phone with a credit card. Plot requests that are not made in person will be assigned randomly. If an e-mailed application is not returned the following day or if there is no follow-up communication to City Hall the following day, the plot will be forfeited and will be reopened for rental.
In the event that a resident's garden plot is not being used or is being poorly cared for (such as having excessive weeds or bugs), city staff will attempt to call or e-mail the resident before any necessary action to clear out the plot.

Communal Garden Guidelines
1) Gardeners may be asked to provide proof of residency at any time during the application process or gardening season. Failure or refusal to provide proof of residency may result in forfeiture of plot.
2) Fees are due at the time of application. Fees cannot be paid in advance for a plot, or for another applicant’s plot in an effort to ‘hold’ a space.
3) Gardeners are strictly prohibited from altering the dimensions or structure of the garden beds, or the surrounding garden area/ enclosure. Damages may be charged to the applicant.
4) Gardeners are responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and habitable area for all within the garden enclosure. This includes, but is not limited to, being mindful of stray supplies and hoses, turning water off fully after use, weeding frequently (no pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals allowed!), and reporting any concerning behavior to staff.
5) Gardeners are responsible for their own supplies. The City offers water sources, hoses, and the garden beds only! All additional supplies must be personally provided, and stored off-site. There is no storage available at either garden location!
6) Garden plots are not communal! Taking produce, cuttings, samples, etc. from another gardener’s bed without the express and explicit permission of that gardener will result in immediate forfeiture of rented plot without refund, and offending gardener will be prohibited from participation in the Community Garden program in the future. This rule is firm, non-negotiable, and based around a 1-strike policy.
7) Gardeners must adhere to organic based gardening and product use. No fresh manure may be used at any time, due to the risk of e-coli. Only manure aged at least 7-months is permitted!
8) Toxic, invasive, or illegal plants (such as foxglove, jimson weed, marijuana, etc.) are dangerous and strictly prohibited. If it is suspected or confirmed that any toxic, invasive, or illegal plants are being used, the rented bed will be immediately forfeited and emptied, without refund. Violation of this rule will result in offending gardener being prohibited from future rental or use.
9) Children (under 18) must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian at all times while in the garden area!
10) Non-active garden beds will be noted by staff, and the associated gardener will be contacted by staff to determine whether the bed will be used at a later point in the season, or has been vacated. If the bed is voluntarily vacated, the bed must be emptied in a timely fashion to be determined by staff, and no refund can be given. If staff cannot successfully contact the gardener (by phone or email provided by gardener), then the bed will be considered forfeited, emptied by staff, and no refund will be given.
11) The community gardens are open from dawn until dusk, and it is against the guidelines to be active inside the garden area outside of these times. The gardens will open for the season (weather dependent) around April, and will close (weather dependent) around the end of October. If the weather permits an early season, or a late finish to the season, staff will reach out via email to inform all gardeners. Gardeners may not be active inside the garden area until an official "beginning of season" email has been sent out by staff, nor may they be active after the season has been declared finished by staff, again via email.
