A draft of the 2026 Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation and Community Wildfire Protection Plan from Spokane County Emergency Management is now available for review and public comment.  The comment period is open through Feb. 23, 2026.
In January 2025, a coalition of Spokane County cities, towns and special purpose districts embarked on a planning process to prepare for impacts of disasters.
During this process, citizens were asked to contribute by sharing local knowledge of the region's vulnerability to hazards based on past occurrences, as well as identify initiatives that could help reduce the level of impact of those hazards.  That process has resulted in the newly available draft plan.
You can review the plan at the Spokane County Emergency Management website here, which has links to the plan as well as links where you can leave comments online or via e-mail.
