[ARCHIVED] Report lists Liberty Lake as one of Washington's 20 safest cities

Map of 20 safest cities in state of Washington

An annual report has named Liberty Lake as one of the 20 safest cities in Washington – and places the city as one of just three from the eastern half of the state to be included on that list.

The newly released 8th annual report from SafeWise is compiled from FBI crime data gathered in 2021.  SafeWise is an online resource that promotes safe communities, home protection, and emergency preparedness through tools, information, and product recommendations.

Liberty Lake is placed at #19 on the list for the entire state of Washington.  Liberty Lake was shown to have a violent crime rate of 1.2 incidents per 1,000 people, less than half of the statewide rate of 3.4 incidents per 1,000 people.   Additionally, the report shows Liberty Lake as having a property crime rate of 20.9 incidents per 1,000 people, which is one-third less than the statewide figure of 31.3 incidents per 1,000 people.

Mark McAvoy, Liberty Lake’s city administrator, said:  “It is one of Liberty Lake’s strategic priorities to provide a safe, active, and engaged community through proactive policing and public safety. The SafeWise report not only reflects that priority in practice, but also affirms the commitment of our entire police department to help make Liberty Lake one of the safest cities in Washington.”
