Councilman Robert Moore moved to Liberty Lake in 2009 to be close to family after living 23 years in Florida. He was appointed to the Liberty Lake Planning Commission in 2010 and served as Chairman for 4 years after which he was appointed to Liberty lake City Council in 2014. He was reelected in 2016 and his term expires at the end of 2019.
Councilman Moore grew up In Norwood, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Management degree. He also graduated from the American Institute of Banking, the Ohio School of Banking at Ohio University, and attended the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Harvard University.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Moore worked as V. P. of Finance and C.F.O. for Tresler Oil Co. Div. of Ashland Oil, Inc., Senior V.P. of Finance and C.F.O. for Duro Bag Mfg. Co., President of Bufkor, Inc., V.P. of Corporate Operations for Reptron Electronics, Inc., and as a Financial Adv.isor for Waddell & Reed.
Experience in Industrial Revenue Bond financing, municipal revenue and general obligation bond financing, grant acquisitions, and construction project management including permitting.
Councilman Moore was first elected to public office over four decades ago when he was elected to the Montgomery, Ohio City Council after serving S years as Chairman of the Montgomery Planning Commission. Other community involvement includes V.P. and Director of the Cincinnati Chapter of Financial Executives Institute, Junior Achievement of Greater Cincinnati Board of Directors, President and Director of the Bay Area Manufacturers Association (B.A.M.A.), Workforce 2000 Study Commission for the State of Florida, member of the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS) of Tampa, and Vice Chair for the Millwood Community Presbyterian Church Endowment Trust.
Awards include Induction in 2012 into the Norwood City Schools Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and an Honorary Lifetime Membership Award by the Bay Area Manufacturers Association. He Is a Kentucky Colonel and is a Shriner and spent 6 years as a member of the Ohio National Guard.
He has been married to his High School sweetheart, Jackie Thomas Moore, for 61 years and has one daughter, Council Member Cris Kaminskas, and one grandson, Kyle Kaminskas, a student at Central Valley High School.
There are many challenges facing Liberty Lake in the future that will require long term strategic planning, creative financing, and sound asset management in order to maintain an acceptable level of services for the community.
