Streamlined permitting is a core mission of the City of Liberty Lake. Whether it’s a simple plumbing permit or a multi-million dollar commercial development, it must pass through Planning & Building Services. Citizens Connect will save applicants and citizens a phone call or email to check on current permitting activity or permitting public records for projects completed in 2017 and beyond because they will be able to check online. Users with an account will currently be able to apply for residential mechanical, plumbing and re-roof permits and schedule all permit inspections. Code enforcement investigation requests will also be transitioning to Citizens Connect and we have additional functionality that our utility providers will be able to use.
In addition to online permitting capabilities, the ability to schedule and track inspections, and easier public records request processing, the City’s new web-based PermitTrax software includes enhanced reporting functions and it is more user friendly and organized with better data capabilities. The permitting process is easier to track and coordinate, the majority of wait times to receive a permit is still the same due to plan review; however individual permit issuance wait time is shorter.
As a small jurisdiction with large jurisdiction permitting volume, the City of Liberty Lake is very happy to be able to offer the new online permitting features to our applicants. To the best of our knowledge, we are the only small jurisdiction in this area that will be using online permitting at this time. This has been requested multiple times from applicants that regularly use online permitting with the larger jurisdictions and Liberty Lake is doing our best to accommodate.
