Orchard Park project is a new 11 acre public park on the north side of the City, west of Harvard Road in the River District. The land was donated by Greenstone Homes. SPVV Landscape Architects is the designer. An extensive master planning effort took place in 2016 involving the residents in the River District. When complete, the design will feature tennis courts, community garden beds, spray park, play equipment, restrooms, picnic shelters, pavilion, pathways, amphitheater, and parking.
The park is scheduled for construction in 2018.
The overall park budget is $2.5M; two million from the City, and $500,000 from a state agency called RCO through a grant. We should know if we have are going to receive RCO funding by the end of June. If we do not receive the RCO funding the City will still move forward with a $2M project. The items noted below in red lettering would be considered for funding in later phases.
