The project proposes to add an additional northbound lane over I-90 to remove the traffic bottleneck our City experiences every weekday afternoon (area in red) and reduce the very long lines of traffic we see on Liberty Lake Road and Appleway Avenue. This project was identified as a priority through our Traffic Study performed by CH2M in 2016.
We are in the process of selecting a consultant for the first phase of the project and will use their work to pursue outside funding. A bridge project of this type typically takes multiple years to complete due to its complexity and dependence on outside funding schedules. We will post more schedule information as it is available.
The City has budgeted $100,000 for the preliminary design of the bridge. Washington Department of Transportation has contributed $800,000 to the project. The overall project cost is estimated at $4.5M. The balance of the funding will come from a variety of sources (local, state and federal).
